Doing the right thing


We’re told with some insistence that SRA’s mascot, a penguin named Albert E. Penguin, is “an integral part of the company culture.”  “Penguins are the company mascot and they are literally everywhere,” says a recent hire, adding, “It is weird how obsessed some people are with it.”  In part, some say, the emphasis on the penguin “helps promote a sense of fun and light-heartedness in the company.”  But perhaps more tellingly, a principal explains, “this came about very early on in the company's history when a company-sponsored athletic team needed a name.  All the other teams in the league were named after predatory animals like hawks and bears, so SRA chose one of the most docile animals there was.”

One in a hundred thousand


Qualified candidates at SRA will generally have “at least two interviews by multiple people (sometimes teams).”  A recent hire recalls encountering “many character questions, as well as typical HR questions in the second interview,” while the “first interview was more casual and not as long.”  A recruiter explains that the “questions the firm uses are predicated on the position and responsibilities associated with that job.
