Sources say PwC’s “corporate culture can be defined as competitive and challenging,” “based on ethics and team-building.” “They don’t micromanage, which is huge for me,” says an audit insider. “For the most part, everyone gets along with each other, and people get together outside of the workplace, making it more like a true friendship instead of a working relationship.”


The firm’s high standards mean that “technical knowledge” is prized, and there’s “continuous feedback” to help employees develop. A tax accountant says, “I have a relationship partner, coach and buddy to assist me in achieving my short- and long-range professional goals.”

As befits a firm as large as PwC, “the recruiting process is very competitive and thorough,” and “candidates are evaluated by several people throughout the process.” “Obviously, it’s Big Four accounting, so we’re more selective than most in the industry,” notes one source. The firm is looking for candidates who have “a decent GPA and can communicate well with people,” but, according to another contact, it “has become increasingly difficult to get a position here due to several factors, including relaxed auditing standards and the economy reducing the workload.” Still, in a company this big, they’re “always hiring a good amount of people.”
